Ciele was a product we always knew about but could not get close to. Until, in 2017, I travelled to the great Drakensberg. Here in an attempt to redeem my running ability I finally laid my hands on an actual Ciele Cap. Another lifelong friend and running adventurer had one. For months before and more so after this, I googled and searched how I could get one. Flat Mountain Living was only a seed at the time. I had started the idea but nothing solid yet. The shape and design of the Ciele cap was fascinating yet so beautiful. It was not able to get one, unless you had friends in Canada.
Two years later, at the bequest of my then partner, we attempted to reach out to Ciele Athletics. I simply did not have the confidence to think it was possible. We were successful, and a few months later had our first batch of Ciele caps in our hands. The moment was magical! These caps, and if you were to hold one yourself, were a few cuts above the rest. There simply wasn’t any competition.
Our journey with Ciele has since been filled with ebbs and flows but the passion and desire to make these caps available to a deserved running community drove every inch of our decision making. To this day we uphold that passion and are now taking it a little further with our SWAP store. In this way, we care to take Ciele to even more runners and at the same time bring about a sharing community which will motivate, reUSetm, as a vehicle of sustainability to enable many more decades for our running community.
